Lake Blue Ridge is located in Fannin County Georgiaand covers over 3200 acres. The lake boasts beautiful shorelines with distant mountain views. Lake Blue Ridge is the setting for many beautiful estates that nestle up to the deep waters that make up the shoreline and help to blend both the natural beauty of the area and the vision of those who have made Lake Blue Ridge their home. The Lake is created in upon the completion of the dam in 1930. The Blue Ridge Dam stretches 1000 feet across the toccoa river and stands 167 feet high. According to the TVA website, 18 of the 19 miles of shoreline are owned by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). The water levels vary by about 20 feet each year, with the lake being the at its highest point during the summer months and its lowest point during the winter months.
Another attraction to Lake Blue Ridge is the outstanding fishing. With species of fish such as Walleye, small mouth bass, bluegill and white bass, Blue Ridge is recognized as a premier fishing destination.
Every 4th of July as the sun goes down most of the traffic in Blue Ridge, Georgia is heading down to the lake as the people of Blue Ridge gather to celebrate our countries independence. The holiday brings out many folks in pontoon boats that line up overlooking the marina to see a the fabulous display of fireworks.
