Carter's Lake

Carters Lake is located in the ellijay, Geogia tucked away in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Georgia. The lake is controlled by the US Army Corps of Engineers and there is no development allowed along the 62 miles of shoreline. The restrictions provide for a beautiful natural lake that occupies over 3500 surface area acres and is a perfect setting for many recrational activities. Activities

Camping

There are several camping sites available at Carters Lake. These sites include Woodring Branch, Doll Mountain, Harris Branch, and Ridgeway. The different sites offer varying degrees of ammenties that may include: Water and electricity, boat ramps, beach areas, hiking trails, and showers. Fishing

Carter's Lake offers great fishing opportunities due greatly to a stocking program overseen by the DNR. The latest numbers release state that in 2006 the DNR stocked Carter's Lake with 33,844 Walleye, 28,980 hybrid bass, and 16,100 striped bass.

Mountain Biking

Carter's Lake offers two trails for mountain bikers to enjoy the well preserved land sorrounding Carter's Lake. To learn more about Amadahy and the Ridgeway bike trails please visit the US Army Corps of engineers.

Boating

Carter's Lake has a public marina where boats can be rented or stored. The Marina offers both pontoon and house boats for rental. There are no private docks on the lake which lends to a quieter and more serene boating experience than sorrounding lakes without the same restrictions.
