Hiawassee Georgia
Visitors are taken aback when they drive through Hiawassee. This small mountain town, with absolutely amazing mountain views from almost every vantage point, is a hidden gem. What makes Hiawassee different from other towns in the area is Lake Chatuge. Lake Chatuge can be seen from the highway and is located right in the middle of Hiawassee, with its many coves weaving in and out of the Hiawassee area. The sparkling blue waters of Lake Chatuge set against the backdrop of long range mountain views make for unbelievable sunsets. One can enjoy this view from one of the many cabins with lake views or while dining on one of the lakeside restaurants.
Hiawassee is a great place for families with kids of all ages. Hiawassee has a movie theater, Fun World, and many outdoor activities for all ages. Water sports are popular on Lake Chatuge and boats, wave runners, canoes, kayaks, and paddle boats are all available for rental on the lake. From spring to fall, the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds features various country music artists, music festivals, as well as the Georgia Mountain Fair and Georgia Mountain Fall Festival.
Hiawassee also has several beautiful mountain golf courses within a short drive. The Ridges Resort Golf Course is in located in Hiawassee and Brasstown Valley Resort and Chatuge Shores Golf Course are each just a short drive away.
